Connor Hibbs // Student Story

May 1, 2019

Connor Hibbs is currently a student at Pikes Peak Community College and will attend CU Denver soon to obtain his Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. He joined the Quad on our Spring Semester Venetucci Team.

My name is Connor Hibbs. I am a small business owner and student at Pikes Peak Community College. I am currently in school finishing pre-requisites to prior to transferring to CU Denver in the pursuit of a bachelors in Civil Engineering. I hope to one day work as a structural engineer with a focus on infrastructure. In the meantime, when I am not studying, in class, or spending time with my amazing wife, I am a full-time business owner. I run a photography studio under the name Connor Hibbs Photography and specialize in studio portraiture, professional headshots, and commercial photography.

I know moving from photography to civil engineering seems like a dramatic turn, but I believe both industries have many overlaps in the type of working environment and both play to different sides of my skillset.

I joined the quad working on the Venetucci Project after having a professor of mine who had worked as a faculty advisor on a previous semester strongly suggest I do so, and I am thrilled that I did. I believe that my experience and knowledge developed as a business owner has been put to great use, and have also found myself consistently challenged and pushed in fantastic ways that have helped me dramatically as a business professional and as a citizen of our community.

I have found all of the other members of the team I am on to not only be incredibly smart and motivated in their own, but also charming, and fun individuals who have made working on the project all the more enjoyable. As the semester’s end grows closer and closer I am left feeling taken aback by the competencies and drive of everyone I have encountered at the Quad. From the staff to my colleague students, everyone I have come across have given me a sense of hope for the future of our city.

I feel great pride in the work the Quad is doing and feel incredibly grateful to have been given the opportunity to take part in it.
